Waiting in Wonder Book Launch Excerpt 3 and a Nikon Coolpix L810 Digital Camera Giveaway

Nikon Coolpix L810 Waiting in Wonder Release

So today my three year-old asked me a few different times if he could talk to the baby in my tummy and give the baby a kiss. My heart just melted. He’s so much more aware this pregnancy than last time when he was the size of my little guy (15 mos). And it’s really cool watching him be such a good big brother! Though I didn’t have a camera on me at the moment (I’m so bad at taking pictures, folks, really) I did snap that little moment in my mind and tuck it in my heart.

It’s always tempting in our lives to be so caught up in the future that we miss the present. I know I’m guilty of that. And that’s what today’s excerpt from Waiting in Wonder:Growing in Faith While You’re Expecting is about. I think no matter what stage of life we’re in, single, married, expecting, nearing retirement… that’s a lesson we all need to learn and relearn. Take a look:

Did you catch that last part? So live this day as if God gave it to you for a purpose–because He did! (Click to tweet!) Think about that some today, okay?

Meanwhile, tying in today’s excerpt and that thing that mommy’s (besides me) do best–take pictures–I want to offer you a chance today to win a Nikon Coolpix L810 Digital Camera, (est. val $280). According to the reviews, this is a snap-and-shoot camera that let’s you take professional quality photos. It also has video recording capability which is perfect for that first smile, first roll, first bite of sweet potato, first steps–all those firsts of baby’s first year. Of course, like all these giveaways you don’t need to be an expectant mama to enter or win–and yep, you can even enter if you have a Y chromosome :-)! All I ask is that you help me spread the word about Waiting in Wonder in any way you can! And of course, while no purchase is necessary to enter or win, it really won’t break my heart if you buy a book, or two, or ten… (You are always going to know someone you could give one of these books to as a gift.)

I am thankful for so many things, my Savior, my wonderful family and my support system of friends and I job that I continue to love more as I do it. I am just trying to enjoy where I am in my life day by day!

  2. Michelle Spencer says:

I am thankful that we live in a country that works so hard to protect us and our freedom. am super thankful I am far away from Boston, but am praying for everyone there.

  3. It is hard to live in the moment when so much is going on around the house and around the world! But I am striving to do that more faithfully. Sometimes I purposely don’t take my camera with me because I end up being “outside” the moment rather than just participating in it! But I do try to capture all the best moments…. 😉

  4. thanking the Lord that my family in Boston is safe today, and that I will have my first grand baby this summer! I would be so blessed to have a new camera to record his growth. They change so quickly don’t they?

  5. I am thankful for the enriching ways we can connect with friends and families…loved ones who we live in community with and live Jesus with one another…a community where our children can learn what real community is all about. Praising God for that today! 🙂

  6. I am thankful for my family and the time I have with my precious boy! He is growing so quickly I am continually aware that babyhood is short-lived and I need to be in the moment and embrace all the smiles and giggles and even tears!

  7. I love today’s excerpt – thank you! (And no, you’re not the only mom who’s bad at remembering to take pictures – I’m terrible. :-)) Definitely thankful for my dear family and our health. And grateful for a God who’s still good and still in control of this crazy world we live in.

  8. Erin Helms says:

I am thankful today to be expecting our 3rd little one – a true blessing and miracle. I am currently not working, so I’m trying to take advantage of this time with my 4 year-old and 2 year-old, cherishing memories and relishing the moment.

  9. I have so many things to be thankful for and yet I find it hard to remember those things in the busy life being a working mom. Today I am thankful for another day to be with those I dearly love.

  10. Catherine! I hope the book signing was a blast today! We were with you in spirit!!

  11. I am in a season of “quiet”. Everything seems a bit too perfect, but I know God allows those seasons to rejuvenate us. I am thankful that everything has fallen into place. I am in a season of a good balance of being a wife and mother, working part-time, and able to be involved in a few ministries without feeling overburdened. It’s wonderful.

  12. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to stay home with my daughter. Even though there are days that I’d like to pull my hair out, I appreciate being able to teach her to read, to learn Bible verses along with her, and to even sing silly songs as we do the laundry!

  13. Natalie L. says:

I am very thankful for my 3 boys. They are growing so fast. I cherish every moment I have with them. Being a mother is the greatest accomplishment I have done. Creating memories with them is such a joy. They are at a great age right now (11,8,&4) and I love being able to do activities with them.

  14. I’m grateful for the Lord’s hand of protection and provision for me! He has truly been my perfect husband in that regard!

  15. Kathryn Leigh says:

Celebrating the moments is important not just to moms, but it is part of our trusting God. The beauty of laughter, shared tea on the back porch, or even a few sentences emailed from an away-at-college son are all gifts from our heavenly Father. He gives good gifts if only we have eyes to see them.

  16. Christopher Rodriguez says:

I just finished school and I’m getting some time to spend with my mother before starting up work. It’s something I know I’ll never be able to do again for a long period of time, so I value it.

  17. I’ve noticed that families get too busy with life and don’t take enough pictures, so I take pictures constantly when there are kids around (and then e-mail the pictures to the parents). When my baby is born is a couple months, I think/hope that I will remember to take lots of pictures!!

    • I guess I should have read the instructions before leaving a comment. Right now I am very thankful to have such a “normal” healthy pregnancy. I love feeling the baby move and seeing how much Daddy loves to feel the baby moving too.

  18. Stefanie Amaya says:

I’m just starting college this year and am so thankful to have the opportunity to go. Most of my family didn’t have that opportunity so I’m going to cherish every moment.

  19. Renee Venegas says:

I am thankful to be able to stay home in this crazy economy and spend time with my kids everyday!

  20. Michael Orrison says:

You’ve reminded me of a picture I once took of Karen standing in a lighted doorway with Shane reaching up to touch her tummy, whilst in her 6th month with Sebastian. It was a beautiful silhouette of life!

  21. Nataly Carbonell says:

Right now, I am thankful for having a place to live, with no luxuries, BUT I appreciate a lot living in this calm and peaceful place.

  22. Rachel Troutman says:

I am thankful for the loving family and friends. I am also thankful for the sweet 19 children that I get to spend time with during the week at school!

  23. So excited for you and all the positive feedback you are receiving!

  24. Sonya Morris says:

I am thankful for my kids and that my husband provides for us so I can stay at home with them.
